US is already sending more military assets to the east, Japan more precisely.
Here, I'm specifically talking about fighter planes, the handsome F22.
Go to the link below and you'll find nice photos of some F22s - ones sent to Japan. I have two comments:
1) Unfortunately, the article is in portuguese and it's quite long to be translated here. In short, it's about US sending new military resources to
Japan due to North Corea threats. But it doesn't matter, what matters are the photos. Take a look see to the second one. The Raptor bears what looks like
enormous fuel tanks???????? And what about stealthness? Have you seen this before? I can imagine that they used this only for a longer trip, without combat
purposes.
2) I really don't hope so, but would this opportunity be
the raptor debut in the the real world? Does North Korea have
something (in terms of fighters, or SAMs, or whatever) to stand against Raptors? I believe that if they only have some aged Fulcrums and Mig 21s, it
wouldn't be enough not even to start an engagement...

On the subject of the external tanks, its nothing unusual. Here is a chart of the F-22's load options.
as for a debut, Hell Yeah! The Raptor needs some blood. Nothing would help save the F-22 more then it being proven in the real world. With that said ..... I don't think anything big will happen with the DPRK anytime soon. The status quo will remain because their is no alternative. Diplomacy has failed and we can't go to war ether because thousands would die and we don't know what the Chinese would do. It could go from bad to worse easily. I think the US and the Rest of the World will might add some sanctions to the DPRK but more likely it will be left alone. If Japan and the RoK get nukes then that's not our problem, its China's. They too will find that nuclear proliferation can work against their national security interests.  |

for the kind of " debut " you are looking for F-22 that is to get into a war with North korea please go through these thread http://fighterplanes.yuku.com/topic/3928/t/American-Defence-changes.html Already USA strectched fighting two wars in iraq and Afganistan though a counter insurgency war, but it is costing USA a lot thus resulting lot of cut in f-22 numbers due to budget cuts another war with north korea adding to its protfolios of war it could as well be a debut and retirement all in one go.too much is too bad
