I meant that no person with wit in them would underestimate their adversaries, as in, it's dumb to do so, and I followed up with the anecdote on how Iran was regularly successfully cyber-attacking Israel and the US. I guess my wording on that was kind of confusing.

Back on your point of hubris, I do understand and agree. Take Israel, for example - it's seen in the west of this superhero nation who can do whatever it wants in terms of warfare when, in reality, every single conflict they had (even the recent ones, superior firepower/tech/training and all) was insane, desperate, and chaotic. Half the time no one has any idea what they're doing, and people don't realize that there's no guarantee of any kind when they treat the military option as the easy solution. War never is, and people tend to forget the price until it's too late... Indeed, some never realize it at all.
