It is well known that Israel used Turkish airspace in 2007 against Syrian targets. This was without the permission of Turkey and used the small bit of turkish airspace right next to the Syrian border.

As to why the Israelis did this, instead of flying right over Syria proper (instead of the mediterranean and a small chunk of Turkey) to bomb interior targets.....maybe you need to invest in a thinking cap.

It pissed of the turks to no end (relations were already strained but not as bad as they were now)...so much so that they have invested in air defense systems in that area to counter any repetition by Israel of such an operation against either Syria or Iran.

As for there being backlash against the Sauds if they were helping the israelis....this would be limited if if it was done covertly and under the table...with a cover story for the Sauds to wash their hands with afterwards. Then most of the angry protests in the muslim world would come from the same people that hate the Sauds already and (correctly) speak of an ulterior alliance between the Sauds and the Israel/West when it comes to short and long term goals in the middle east....esp w.r.t Iran.

The masses would only stop their daily job to vent their fury at the Sauds...if the Sauds officially backed and aided such an operation. Otherwise it would be the same set of people that have nothing better to do.

Another more direct reason for Sauds pretending not to know about any operation is that they would face direct wrath from the Iranians...in the form of missile showers and airstrikes on the crucial oil infrastructure that provides the Sauds with imported swedish girlfriends and magic carpets.
