I have to say the Eagle's thundering roar is one of my most favorite sounds in the world. I wish i'd hear the F-22's at some point with those super powerful engines.

In Israel there used to be F-4s flying over now and then (until they were retired) - their engines are more a shriek than a roar - and occasionally there was F-16s and there was even a Kfir once. I also got to see Apaches and Cobras now and then. The F-16s sound a lot like the F-15s (not surprising considering its the same engine) but the Eagle's intensity is just far beyond that. The first time I saw Eagles for real was one summer when I was coming back home and there was a deafening noise, so loud I couldn't hear myself thing. They were two Eagle at about 3k-5k ft, could barely see them but made the silhouette out clearly. Was quite awestruck by the power that emanated from them and reinforced by the sound.

P.S Sorry for going completely off topic. The image with the Eagle got me started.
