Yeah, I know its definitely not a light weapon, which is why I put "light machine gun" in quotation marks...the way I had it explained to me is that (VERY roughly speaking) the SAW is the equivalent to the BAR in an "automatic rifle/very light machine gun" role, qualifications for this being a fully automatic weapon in a rifle caliber able to be operated by a lone soldier; the M240, as the successor to the M60, is a "light machine gun," the qualifications for this being that it is in a substantially higher caliber than the "automatic rifle" and that it is a crew served weapon but it is man-portable; the Ma Deuce (M2 .50 cal) is a "medium machine gun" in that it is a heavier caliber than the "light MG," is crew-served, and is designed to be mounted at all times; a "heavy machine gun" is a weapon that cannot at any time be fired or transported unmounted and is integrated with the transporting vehicle; examples of a heavy MG would be the Bushmaster on the Bradley or the 30mm chaingun on the Apache.

That's what 120,000 lb. of thrust looks like.
