that pretty much invented the modern assault rifle and certainly invented the design in question. Tough one that...

The M-16/AR-15 was designed by Eugene Stoner and he worked for Armalite not FN.

Smaller more innovative companies on occasion make a better product.

FN had its lemons like the jamomatic FN Mini, M-16 clones that no AR-15 buff will touch with a stick, and the FN FiveSeven. A pistol with as much knockdown power as a .22Mag and I would never take squirrel hunting cartages into a gun fight where the other guy would have had the common sense to use a .45ACP.

Mag changes take at worst 10 seconds

With what rifle? Even WW1 rifles loaded with striper clips never took that long. I don't care if he does not have mag pouches that is way too long.

5-7 seconds I can understand, but 10?

Shot placement and muzzle velocity make a far bigger difference than pure calibre. 7.62mm has a nasty tendency to go straight through the target - which does less damage than a high velocity 5.56mm.

Assuming that the rifleman is not under extreme stress and can take his time with his shot, then accuracy is the only significant factor in a successful shot.

Bullet diameter does make a difference, granted the 7.62 NATO is overpowered for up close work, but urban battle also involves shooting through whatever the enemy is using for cover like brick walls, vehicles, sandbags, etc.

Long range shooting still takes place inside cities too.

This is turning into a 5.56 vs. 7.62 thread and I am not interested because I remember discussing this before here.

Battle Rifles are still relevant to 21st century fighting otherwise the M-14 would not be in service today.

If I had to go street fighting but could use any rifle I wanted this would be the one because its compact, takes FN FAL mags which are easy to buy, and it comes in a caliber that is still powerful at extended range which is where I would want to be in the face of the enemys front line.

My only complaint of the Kel-Tec RFB is that, I would want a removable forward pistol grip for easier pointability in tight spaces and better rapid fire control.
