Well, the people have spoken! Here's some mod-team krav-maga for ya, PLAtroll3.
(Banned for a month, so that could be his second warning I guess... The message I sent asks him to behave when/if he comes back. I don't want to go to strike three right off the bat [was that a double pun just now?], we still have rules here after all. Sort of. Cheers! |

I don't think he'd stick around much for provoking.....after he gets a glance at the respective sizes of both dog and his owner

Thanks Leo. Funny though, I have a feeling he was looking for a ban from the beginning. He just couldn't get up to being too nasty with the forum members
because he kind of liked you guys. Strange stuff.
BTW, as well mannered as Finn is I've never met anybody that wasn't kind of overwhelmed just by his size. Some like him, some won't get near him, but he does affect everybody he meets in some way. I used to have a picture around of my last mastiff with his mouth open begging for a treat. It was scary looking, but up close in person it's a whole different thing. Kind of like being near a Lion, but with the good manners of a well trained dog. Of the two of us though I have much less inhibitions to violence than Finn courtesy of a life in Law Enforcement and corrections. Those barriers are long gone in me. Joe

Yes! No more annoying abuse of that %%%@!!$ rolling emoticon. At least for awhile. That was the only thing that bothered me. Can we ban that emoticon too for
the same period, just to get a brake from it? I really hate it now. Please?

Crolly, I can effectively eliminate that smiley, but I'm not going to. I used to like it.
Comvi, no purging, that's against forum policies. We keep everything unless it's horrid beyond imagination (I'm talking nasty picture spamming etc)... This whole place is some kind of an internet archive... Mastiff, Finn sounds awesome. I love huge dogs who are also well mannered, they always have that majestic aura about them, plus cuddling with a lion-like beast makes my inner child happy beyond measure. Shakobe, you are now officially banned until your next post. EAT IT. EEEEEAT IT. |

Leo, Young ladies seem really drawn to him for some reason. They treat him like a huge teddy bear. He seems to prefer women of all types to men also, excepting
me of course. One neighbor girl almost lays on his back when hugging him. I just sit back and watch as he seems to enjoy it, and they pretty much just talk
jibberish and forget about me being there. It's amusing. The strange thing is that he seems to want to avoid toddler sized children whenever possible,
almost coming off as scared of them. Joe

Sounds to me like he has all the best attributes of a manly beast!
All this talk makes me miss mine again. =\ He was a Siberian Husky/German Shepard mix. We lost him about three years ago now... He was awesome. |

Heck I was pretty scared back in high school of the kindergarten kids (our school was one big massive school right from pre-kindergarten to college)....that
would gather up in swarms around the bus line area and flood the whole place......they were like gas particles...running and bumping into anything and
everything....and my biggest fear was stomping on one of them accidentally or knocking one over (a fear shared by many) esp. since I am a relatively big guy
(at least for an asian lol).
We had a german shepherd....amazing guy...its been almost 10 years now....he had quite a few pups as well.....some of which who have went on to become police dogs. I guess he lives on through them and the amazing work they do without hesitance.

Leo, All the Huskies I've known were pretty smart, energetic and loved to roam when they got the chance. They have a peculiar habit of trying to talk. Of
course it doesn't come out as well as they'ed like it too due to psysiological/hardware reasons. Nevertheless if you know the dog you can pretty much
figgure out what they are saying. A shepard mix husky has a lot of potential to be really special with the extreme intelligence of the shepard. Of all dog
breeds I've owned the German shepard/alsation breed is the one that trys the hardest to please it's owner.
Sukiohman, I kind of blame myself for Finns desire to stay away from kids. I've always gone way out of the way to keep Finn away from neighbor kids due to the attitude of some very protective parents that are convinced Finn wants to eat their kids. We will make it a habit of crossing to the other side to get away from them. As it's been a thing he has done as far back as his memory allows it has now become a routine, which he does now without any of my input. Dogs love their routines. Example; We step off the road onto the grass and freeze when a car drives by for safety. Since he was7 weeks old that's how he has done it every time. One time I was trying to train a neighbor/ friend that I trusted to be able to take finn out in case of emergencies when I wasn't there. The first time they went out a car went by and Finn used his body and pushed/herded him up onto the grass, off the road. The neighbor didn't know about that routine, so Finn taught him. When I explained to him why Fin did it he was amazed, calling him all kinds of smart. Really it's just a routine, which dogs need and understand. Positive routines are good for dogs and inspire confidence. My opinion anyway. Joe

interesting.
someone a while back when i worked in a pub told me all dog's derive from the afghan hound, or that it was the first or something. he was a regular at this particular pub i worked in though. one day the downhill skiing was on tv. as they hurtle down the slope the clock goes up. then he say's 'focker! look how fast he's going!....look the speedo on the side is still climbing!' it's true. un-focking believable. natural selection is b0llox

@mastiff, yes i understand the need for routines....police dogs and my interaction with them are strong examples.....I am not surprised you have various
systems with your dog. It can amaze people who dont know that much about dogs or particular breeds.
@spanky....the afghan hound is indeed a very old....even ancient breed (going back to persian royalty times).....however it is not the original breed. The very word breed is used...because every dog.....from a st. bernards to a chihuahua is actually the same species (and even subspecies). As for which one was the original.....it is unclear....but feral dogs (which still exist today)....such as the dingos and indian feral dogs....along with possible "friendly" wolves were probably the ones that first associated with humans...feeding off scraps that people left behind and then socializing with us...much as they do with each other (gradually of course...over many years). Then through selective breeding and exposure to particular environments...they have also chnaged dramatically....even though each one is exactly the same species as another.
