Posts: 1 (Mon, 7-Jul-08 20:50:07) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Report Post	Tags : None Hi, i am intersted in relics from ww2, and this week i did get offered a ww2 airplane cockpit. i am not sure if it really is a ww2 airplane cockpit, so i hope you guys can help me out! I asked the seller if there are marks on the back of the instruments, because if it is really a WW2 cockpit, i guess it must have army stamps in it like "us army"or a broad arrow or something?? i hope you guys can help me out here. and maybe if it would be a ww2 airplane cockpit, how much can something like this be worth? Posts: 8419 (Mon, 7-Jul-08 22:32:57) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Report Post	The instruments are of approximately the right age, but that doesn't help a lot as there are still WW2 era instruments in use today (I've flown with some). Need a better photo to tell if is a 2 or 4 engine aircraft, but I think it's safe to say it has more than one engine and probably two flight deck crew. Value probably depends a lot on if the instruments still work and you can get them calibrated, etc. If you can, they would be worth a shedload to break up the panel and sell on. Doesn't look hopeful though.

Posts: 2 (Tue, 8-Jul-08 17:01:37) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Report Post	Hi PDF27, thanks for your reply, the person who whas offered this item too me, did answer me today about the question if there are marks on the instruments. he says he did take a look at some of them, and the ones he did examine, starts with 1942 but he also tells me that there are instruments from 1954. i hope i have some more pictures for you, but i don't think they will be on high resolution, because he has to send them to me. Posts: 8420 (Tue, 8-Jul-08 17:46:51) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Report Post	Well, I'd be surprised if those instruments can be made operational again without major work - it looks like it was disconnected with a pair of wirecutters and left in a shed for years. Can't tell you much beyond that - it's a relatively complex aircraft (flaps, retractable undercarriage and multiple engines). The 1954 instruments are a good sign that it's postwar, and the layout looks rather better than most wartime aircraft. It's almost certainly a piston aircraft - speeds and what instruments I can see are about right. Going on that, plus a few lucky google hits and we have a winner! It's from a C-119 "Flying Boxcar".
